Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon popularly known as Reekado Banks was Born on December 1993. Reekado Banks is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and recording artiste. He came into the lame light after he featured Tiwa Savage in hit single “turn it up”. But he became Fans favorite just few months later when he sang the hook of the famous Mavin song “Dorobucci”.

Reekado Banks Biography: Family Early Life and Education

Reekado Banks is from a Christian home. His father is a pastor from Ondo State and his mother is a caterer. Reekado Banks is the last child of three having an elder brother and sister. Reekado Banks was born into music with each of his family member are all involved in music. His elder brother is a producer and his elder sister is a gospel singer while his mother was a dancer.

Reekado Banks rounded up his secondary Education at the early age of 14 after obtaining his waec certificate , he then went on to study History and Strategic Study at the University of Lagos where he graduated with a second class degree.

Base on an interview Reekado Banks said that one of the most humiliating experiences that he has had in his life was when a Unilag lecturer prevented him from retaking a test he missed telling him he would never achieve his dreams.

Reekado Banks Biography: Music Career and Fame

Reekado banks stated recording songs at the age of 14 after he graduate from secondary school under the guidance and tutoring of his elder brother. At a point of his Career his brother was the one who handled all of his music production and thought him all about song writing and producing before he was signed. his elder brother was the man behind the recording contract with Mavin records that he signed. His contract with Mavin records was possible because when Mavin record was still growing they had an online talent search across Nigeria with more than 5000 people submitting their songs. Reekado was in the dark when his brother submitted some his work and Reekado was among the many applicants that was chosen. The negotiations and the paper works was all handled by his brother without him knowing what was even going on, before before he was later informed of the breath taking news. During an interview with the National Mirror Reekado said that “he’s a versatile artist who makes music with the thought that humans are different and all have different taste”.

With no time to wast Reekado Banks released his first official single “Turn It Up” under new record label Mavin records on the 21st of February 2014, which happens to be the same day he got signed. The song featured Mavin queen Tiwa Savage.

May 1st the same year Reekado Banks was featured alongside label mates Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, korede hello, Di’Ja, Dr SID and D’Prince on the popularly critical acclaimed song “Dorobucci”, with him taking the popular hook. Reekado Banks also collaborated with his label mates to release popular singles “Adaobi”, “Arise” and “Looku Looku”.

February 13th 2015 Reekado Banks released the song “Katapot” produced by Don. Many Nigerian’s claimed the song was a diss track towards D’banj and Wande Coal due to the controversial way they left Don Jazzy. Don Jazzy however refuted the allegations in a series of tweets. While speaking to Vanguard newspaper, Reekado Banks stated that he released the song “Katapot” for his fans. Reekado Banks quote “There is no amount of sacrifice that was enough to get me something this big.”

Reekado Banks said that at a setting stage in his life he used to hawk blenders in traffic and work as a manual labourer at construction sites in order to earn money so he could use to further his after he told his parents about his intention to pursue a career in music.

Reekado Banks has often said that Olamide, Don Jazzy, 2face Idibia, DJ Jimmy Jatt and M.I as the people that inspired him for music.

In the early days of Reekado Banks, he went by the name “spicy” before he then changed it to Reekado Banks. The name Reekado Banks he derived it by combining the meanings of the two names ; with Reekado when translated interpreted to mean “strong ruler”, while the Banks is loosely translated to mean “wealth”.
